Fuel Estimate:
The Fuel Estimate Worksheet display as airline uses to calculate the fuel requirements and associated cost for available flights. Open the workbook and complete the requirement below:
a. Fuel Required: The Fuel required for each flight is dependent on the type of aircraft and the number of flying hours. Use a VLOOKUP function in the formula to determine gallons per hour based on the type of plane, and then multiply the result by the number of flying hours to compute the amount of fuel for each flight. (the table of the VLOOKUP function extended over three columns)
b. Reserve Fuel: Use the Fuel Required from part (a) to compute the additional requirement for Reserved Fuel. The Reserved Fuel is 20% of the Fuel Required. This parameter is shown at the bottom of the worksheet (H19)
c. Holding Fuel: Use the Fuel Required from part (a) to compute the additional requirement for Holding Fuel. The Holding Fuel is 10% of the Fuel Required. This parameter is shown at the bottom of the worksheet (H20)
d. Total Fuel: is the Sum of Fuel Required, Reserved Fuel, and Holding Fuel.
e. Cost: The estimated fuel cost for each flight is the number of gallons times the price per gallon. There is a price break, if the fuel required reaches or exceeds a threshold number of gallons (3,500). For Example: the Boeing 727 flight from Miami to Los Angeles (MIA-LAX), required 8,008 gallons, which exceeds the threshold (3,500),and therefore qualified for the reduced price of fuel ($1.75) ( Use IF Function to compute this cell)
f. Use the Chart Wizard to create a pie chart that display the cost for each trip:
a. Chart Type: Exploded Pie with 3-D Visual Effect
b. Chart Title: Cost for each Trip
c. Show Legend on the bottom
d. Add Value and Percentage of each trip
e. Show Legend Key
f. Display chart in separate worksheet..
